Brickell
Brickell is a vibrant neighborhood in Miami, Florida, historically known as “Southside,” situated directly east of Interstate 95, south of the Miami River, and north of Coconut Grove. It is recognized as the financial district of Miami and South Florida, boasting a rich history that dates back to the mid-19th century.
Today, Brickell is Miami’s most densely populated neighborhood, with around 31,000 residents as of 2010. The construction of high-rise office and residential towers has shaped its urban landscape, particularly along Brickell Avenue and in lower Brickell. The commercial boom of the 1980s further solidified its status as a bustling urban center.
While much of the area has been developed, some historic buildings still remain, adding character to the neighborhood. Notably, Brickell is home to Tobacco Road, which claims to be Miami’s oldest bar, established in 1912.
